Why "Jansky"??
Jansky is a unit widely used in
radio astronomy for the observed amount of radiation (more precisely,
the flux density) from an astronomical source.
One Jansky, abbreviation Jy, is equal to 10-26 W/Hz/m2.
The unit was named after the discoverer of cosmic radio emission, an American
radio engineer Karl Jansky (1905-1950).
